As technology evolves so does the medical industry. We’ve seen the development of robotics in the planning and execution of surgery. Robotic surgery enables a surgeon to increase the accuracy of an operation by placing the components in the correct position. The bone cuts are more precise and the surgeon receives live feedback about soft tissue balancing during the course of the procedure.
It is presumed that robotic surgery may improve function and allow an earlier return to usual activities. More precise alignment may also increase the longevity of the prosthesis for younger patients. However robotic surgery is relatively new to orthopaedics and long term data is not yet available.
Mr Barnes is always looking to achieve the best results for his patients and has embraced robotic surgery. During our appointment Mr Barnes can discuss this with you and decide on the best treatment plan.
