Mr Matt Barnes

Mr Matt Barnes is a fellowship trained Melbourne Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in the treatment of hip and knee conditions.

After receiving his medical degree at the University of Melbourne Mr Barnes went on to complete his Orthopaedic Training Program with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Melbourne. He is a registered fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association.

Mr Barnes is based in Melbourne and works privately at the Epworth Hospital in Richmond and Warringal Private Hospital in Heidelberg. Each of these renowned institutions offer patients state of the art diagnostic and treatment facilities.

Mr Barnes has been awarded several prestigious international fellowships, gaining further knowledge and surgical skills in the areas of hip and knee surgery. His areas of expertise are hip replacement surgery including anterior approach hip replacement, hip arthroscopy and revision hip replacement. His expert skills extend to knee replacement surgery and sports knee including ligament reconstruction and arthroscopy.

Keeping up to date with the latest technology is important and Mr Barnes has an active role in research, having published several papers in both Australian and International Orthopaedic Journals. He is involved in orthopaedic registrar education and holds a clinical teaching position with the University of Melbourne.
